Teaching with Technology

“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.”

–David Warlick-

Digital Story Telling

Digital storytelling is a powerful tool that I have incorporated in my classroom. It utilizes several elements of common core and allows students to synthesize the structure of a narrative, incorporate the elements of a story plot, and increase students' digital citizenship. The following lesson shows a sample of a unit on digital storytelling my 8th graders completed this year.

Book Talks

Students complete book talks about novels we read in the classroom. This allows students to practice speech while using technology. Below is a sample book talk on John Green's novel Paper Town

Novel Study Unit

Technology is a powerful tool. Here is an example of a project based project. Below is a link to a unit a few of my classmates and I put together about Peter Bognanni's novel, The House of Tomorrow. Students can create posts for a book they read or other various activities through a free website genorator.

 Symbaloo in the Classroom

Symbaloo is a great link page students can use. Here is a sample of what sites students would find helpful on my Symbaloo.
